Ramadan 1447 AH in Oman to begin on Thursday, 19 February 2026

Muscat: Oman’s Main Committee for Moon Sighting has announced that Thursday, 19 February 2026, will mark the first day of Ramadan 1447 AH.

Based on confirmed astronomical calculations, the crescent moon will not be visible on Tuesday, 17 February 2026 (29 Sha’ban 1447 AH), in any governorate of the Sultanate, making its sighting astronomically impossible. Consequently, Wednesday, 18 February 2026, will complete the month of Sha’ban.

The Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs extended heartfelt congratulations to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, praying for his continued health and well-being. The ministry also invoked blessings for the Sultanate of Oman, its citizens, and Muslims worldwide, wishing prosperity, spiritual growth, and acceptance of fasting and righteous deeds during the holy month.

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is observed by Muslims globally as a month of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community.
