Oman Interior Minister Attends 'Arabian Gulf Security 4' GCC Exercise in Qatar

Doha, Qatar: Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi, Oman’s Minister of Interior, attended the conclusion of the joint tactical exercise “Arabian Gulf Security 4”, held in Doha under the participation of GCC interior ministers.

The Sultanate of Oman deployed forces from the Royal Oman Police, the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority, and the Medical City for Military and Security Services as part of its contribution. The exercise aims to strengthen joint Gulf security systems and improve field coordination and operational integration among GCC security agencies.

Upon arrival at the exercise grounds at the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), Sayyid Hamoud was received by Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani, Qatar’s Minister of Interior and Commander of Lekhwiya. The concluding session featured rapid intervention drills, counter-terrorism simulations, protection of vital installations, and crisis management exercises.

Security units demonstrated high-speed response, precise coordination, and efficient operational planning throughout more than 70 training scenarios spanning 260 hours of intensive field exercises over the 11-day program.

The event also included specialized security units from the United States, highlighting international collaboration to enhance GCC security preparedness and collective multilateral response capabilities.

The Omani delegation accompanying the Interior Minister included Maj. Gen. Abdullah bin Ali Al Harthy, Assistant Inspector General of Police and Customs for Operations, and Maj. Gen. Sulaiman bin Ali Al Hussaini, Chairman of the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority, alongside senior officials from the Royal Oman Police and Ministry of Interior.

The exercise was attended by Jasem bin Mohammed Al Budaiwi, GCC Secretary General, and heads of Supreme Committees from GCC countries, reflecting the exercise’s status as one of the most prominent multilateral security drills in the region. It provides a realistic operational environment that unifies security concepts, strengthens field integration, and develops capabilities to address evolving security challenges in the Gulf.
