Algerian Army Kills Four ‘Terrorists’ in Northwest Operation

Algiers – Algerian Army Kills Four ‘Terrorists’ in Northwest Operation as security forces conducted a targeted sweep in the mountainous Djebel Amrouna region, approximately 130 kilometers west of Algiers.

The Algerian defense ministry reported that soldiers “eliminated four terrorists” and recovered four Kalashnikov rifles along with ammunition. The operation is ongoing as part of the military’s broader counter-terrorism strategy.

Authorities regularly report the neutralization of “terrorists,” referring to armed Islamist militants who have remained active since the country’s 1992–2002 civil war. Despite the 2005 Charter for Peace and Reconciliation, which sought to end decades of violence, sporadic attacks continue across the region.

This year, the ministry said the army has “killed 21 terrorists, captured eight others, and seen 38 militants repent.” Additionally, security forces arrested 369 individuals linked to terrorist groups and recovered over 100 weapons.

The latest operation underscores Algeria’s ongoing commitment to combating armed groups and maintaining national security. Algerian Army Kills Four ‘Terrorists’ in Northwest Operation highlights the continuing vigilance of military forces against extremist threats while stabilizing the region.
