Students in Jeddah got a hands-on introduction to STEM careers through electric motorsport this week, as part of the 2026 E1 Jeddah GP. The Driving Force program, presented by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), aims to familiarize students aged 8–18 with science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through professional racing and sustainability-focused industries.

John Williams, Managing Director at E1, said the program shows students the diverse careers available in motorsport, including engineers, mechanics, and data specialists. “The key is bringing a new generation closer to the mechanisms of sport, from broadcast technology to boat engineering and event management,” he said.

The program included workshops at King Abdulaziz University’s Faculty of Maritime Studies, trackside access, pilot meet-and-greets, and behind-the-scenes exposure to RaceBird boats. Students learned about electric racing, technical operations, and the environmental aspects of motorsport. Organizers said the initiative reached over 60,000 students globally in 2025 and will expand further in 2026.

The PIF has been a crucial partner since the championship began, supporting initiatives like Driving Force that combine education, innovation, and sports to inspire future STEM professionals.
