Three Palestinians Killed in Southern Gaza Amid Ongoing Tensions
Khan Younis, Gaza – At least three Palestinians were killed on Sunday in separate shooting incidents in the southern Gaza Strip city of Khan Younis, according to local health authorities.
The fatalities included a 15-year-old boy, a fisherman shot outside areas still controlled by Israel, and another man killed east of the city in areas under Israeli oversight. Medical teams confirmed that all three died from gunshot wounds.
The Israeli military has not issued an official statement regarding the shootings.
Since a ceasefire took effect in October, Israel has carried out targeted operations in Gaza, citing the need to prevent attacks and dismantle militant infrastructure.
Local health officials report that more than 420 Palestinians have been killed since the ceasefire, while Palestinian militants have reportedly killed several Israeli soldiers during the same period. Both sides have accused each other of violating the ceasefire agreement.
As part of regional security arrangements, Israel retains control over a portion of Gaza while some hostages held by militants and Palestinians detained by Israel have been released. Some hostages remain unaccounted for following attacks in October 2023, when militants launched a major assault on Israel.
The ongoing conflict has caused widespread casualties, with tens of thousands of Palestinians killed since the escalation of hostilities. Concerns over potential violations of international law have been raised, which Israel disputes.
