Saudi Hajj Ministry suspends Umrah firm and overseas agent over violations
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has suspended an Umrah company and its overseas agent for failing to provide contracted accommodation to pilgrims, the ministry announced on Sunday.
The ministry said the company violated regulations governing services for Umrah pilgrims and visitors to the two holy mosques, noting that several pilgrims arrived in the Kingdom without the mandated accommodation. Immediate action was taken to address the breach and hold both the company and its overseas agent accountable.
“The measures are intended to safeguard the rights of affected pilgrims, prevent a recurrence of such violations, and ensure the continued enhancement of service quality,” the ministry added.
This action follows a similar move in June, when the ministry suspended seven Umrah companies for deficiencies in providing transport services to pilgrims.
According to official figures, more than 1.7 million Muslims from around the world arrived in Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah during the month of Jumada Al-Akhirah, corresponding to November 22 to December 20.
