Iran Missile Attacks Continue as US Talks Off Agenda Amid Escalating Conflict
Tehran — Iran has stated that missile attacks will continue as US talks remain off the agenda, signaling no immediate diplomatic engagement amid escalating regional tensions.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi emphasized on Tuesday that negotiations with the United States are no longer being considered, citing prior “bitter experiences” in earlier discussions. Tehran insists its military actions are in self-defense following strikes targeting Iranian leadership.
The conflict began on February 28, when coordinated attacks reportedly by US and Israeli forces struck key Iranian sites, resulting in casualties among high-ranking officials. Iran has since responded with missiles and drones against US and allied positions across the region.
The ongoing war has also severely affected maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital oil shipping corridor handling roughly one-fifth of the world’s crude supplies. Iranian forces have repeatedly targeted commercial vessels in this strategic waterway, adding pressure to global energy markets.
Despite the conflict, Iran maintains that it is ready to continue military operations for as long as necessary. “We are prepared to carry out missile operations as long as it is required and justified,” said Araghchi.
Meanwhile, some nations, including global and regional powers, have reached out to Iran seeking to establish a ceasefire or reduce hostilities. Diplomatic efforts reportedly involve discussions with multiple countries aiming to mediate the situation, although Tehran has not committed to negotiations at this stage.
Iranian officials insist that the country did not initiate the conflict and remains focused on defending its territory and interests. With tensions high, the Strait of Hormuz continues to be a focal point for security concerns, international shipping, and energy supply stability.
The statement underscores Tehran’s firm stance on military action while leaving diplomatic engagement with the United States off the table for now, as the conflict in the Middle East shows little sign of immediate resolution.
