Yemen Airways Launches Direct Flights Between Socotra and Jeddah
Yemen Airways has announced the launch of direct flights connecting the Socotra archipelago with Jeddah, marking a major step in improving air links between the island and the region. The new service is set to begin with a weekly flight starting Wednesday.
The airline said the inaugural flight will help facilitate the evacuation of foreign tourists who have been stranded on Socotra due to recent operational challenges. Officials described the move as an important measure to ensure passenger safety and restore confidence in travel to the island.
Following the first flight, Yemen Airways plans to operate regular weekly services on the Socotra–Jeddah route. The airline aims to strengthen tourism ties and promote Socotra as a unique global destination known for its natural beauty and biodiversity.
Company representatives said the new route is expected to support the local economy by improving access to international markets and encouraging greater visitor flow. The expansion also reflects Yemen Airways’ broader strategy to enhance regional connectivity and contribute to the long-term development of tourism in Socotra.
