Senegalese President Holds Talks in Kuwait Ahead of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week

Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye arrived in Kuwait on Monday for an official visit ahead of his participation in Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week in the United Arab Emirates.

During his stop in Kuwait, President Faye met with Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, where both sides discussed a range of regional and international issues, according to officials.

The Senegalese leader is accompanied by senior ministers responsible for national transformation, African integration, foreign affairs, finance, and water management. His visit forms part of a broader diplomatic effort to strengthen relations between Senegal and Gulf countries, including Kuwait and the UAE.

President Faye is scheduled to attend the final two days of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week on January 14 and 15. The annual international forum brings together global leaders, policymakers, and experts to address key challenges related to sustainable development, energy transition, and innovation.

On his arrival in Kuwait, the president was received by Prime Minister Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Deputy Assistant Foreign Minister for African Affairs Naif Mohammed Al-Mudhaf, along with other senior officials.

The visit reflects Senegal’s growing engagement with Gulf partners as it seeks to expand cooperation in investment, development, and sustainability initiatives.
