Oman’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has reported significant growth in air traffic and infrastructure during 2025 and 2026, highlighting the Sultanate’s strategic role in regional and international aviation.

In 2025, more than 585,000 aircraft crossed Omani airspace, reflecting the country’s position as a key air corridor connecting Asia, Europe, and Africa. The CAA issued over 18,000 airline and diplomatic flight permits and 3,627 aviation obstacle permits, ensuring safe and efficient operations.

The Authority handled 524 passenger complaints and recorded revenues of OMR 107 million, the highest in its history, demonstrating strong governance and operational performance. In line with workforce development goals, 101 Omanis were hired and 139 university students received on-the-job training.

In 2026, the CAA opened the Aircraft Maintenance Building at Muscat International Airport and launched construction for the new Sohar Airport terminal, supporting passenger growth, tourism, and Oman’s ambition to become a leading regional aviation hub.
