Oman Participates in OIC

The Sultanate of Oman actively participated in the meetings of the Parliamentary Union of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States held in Nouakchott, Mauritania. The sessions were part of the 55th Executive Committee meeting of the OIC Parliamentary Union.

The Omani delegation was led by Mohammed Salim Al Harthy, a member of the State Council. During the meetings, delegates discussed the draft agenda of the Executive Committee alongside members of the Committee on Economic and Environmental Affairs. Two Vice-Presidents were elected as representatives of the African and Asian groups, and the distribution of seats for the next session was finalized.

The meetings also reviewed recommendations from previous conferences and outlined preparations for the 20th OIC Parliamentary Union Conference, scheduled to be held in Baku, Azerbaijan, in mid-June 2026. Discussions focused on the Palestinian cause, challenges facing Islamic nations, and strategies to strengthen joint efforts for regional security and stability.

The 55th session emphasized enhancing mechanisms for joint parliamentary work, exchanging experiences, addressing political, economic, and social issues, and drafting actionable recommendations to support cooperative Islamic action across member states.
