England’s Justin Rose carded a seven-under-par 65 on Friday to extend his lead to four shots at the Farmers Insurance Open in San Diego. The 45-year-old sits on 17 under after breaking his own 36-hole tournament record.

Rose, runner-up at the 2025 Masters, dominated the South Course with an eagle, six birdies, and a single bogey. “I feel like in my career I’ve won on tough golf courses generally, so that’s my M.O.,” Rose said. “It’s one of my favourite tournaments on Tour — the whole area, the atmosphere, the vibe.”

Ireland’s Seamus Power trails Rose at 13 under, while M. McGreevy, J. Dahmen, S-Woo Kim, and other contenders are battling for position further back.

Meanwhile, Brooks Koepka returned to the PGA Tour with a second-round 68, making the cut at three under. The five-time major winner, who recently left LIV Golf, struggled on the South Course on Thursday but found his form on the North Course, sinking an eagle putt on the 17th hole.

“I was excited and nervous on Thursday, but today felt more normal,” Koepka said. “I’m testing where my game’s at after a long layoff, and I feel like I’m playing really well.”

The tournament also saw several top players miss the cut, including Xander Schauffele, whose streak of consecutive cuts ended at 72, as well as Patrick Cantlay, Gary Woodland, Will Zalatoris, JJ Spaun, Max Homa, and Ludvig Aberg.

Rose will look to maintain his advantage over the weekend, aiming for his first victory at the Farmers Insurance Open since previous record-setting performances. Koepka’s return adds intrigue as he seeks to regain form after several years away from the PGA Tour.
