India’s Modi Makes Second Official Visit to Israel to Meet Netanyahu
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Israel on Wednesday for his second official visit to the country, aiming to strengthen strategic cooperation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other senior leaders.
The two-day visit focuses on expanding collaboration in security, trade, innovation, and advanced technologies. Modi is scheduled to hold talks with Netanyahu and President Isaac Herzog and is also expected to address Israel’s parliament.
Ahead of his arrival, Modi described India and Israel’s relationship as a “robust and multifaceted strategic partnership,” noting that ties between the two nations have grown significantly in recent years.
India is Israel’s second-largest trading partner in Asia, with bilateral trade valued at approximately $3.62 billion during the 2025 fiscal year. Economic discussions are expected to center on boosting investment, strengthening technology partnerships, and enhancing cooperation in artificial intelligence and emerging sectors such as quantum computing.
Security cooperation is also expected to feature prominently in the talks. The two countries maintain strong defense ties and regularly collaborate on strategic and regional security issues.
Modi first visited Israel in 2017, becoming the first Indian prime minister to do so. That visit marked a turning point in diplomatic relations, and Netanyahu later reciprocated with a visit to India. The current trip reinforces the continued high-level engagement between the two governments.
India established full diplomatic relations with Israel in 1992, and ties have steadily expanded over the decades. Under Modi’s leadership, the partnership has evolved into a broader strategic alignment encompassing economic, technological, and security cooperation.
Analysts view this second official visit as a signal of continued commitment from both sides to deepen bilateral ties and navigate regional and global challenges together.
