HH Sayyid Theyazin Meets FAO Director-General to Strengthen Food Security Cooperation in Oman

Muscat, Oman — HH Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, today received Dr. Qu Dongyu, Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), along with his accompanying delegation, during their official visit to the Sultanate of Oman.

The high-level meeting focused on reviewing the existing cooperation between Oman and the FAO in the fields of agriculture, fisheries, and food security. Both sides explored strategies to further develop and strengthen this partnership in line with Oman’s national priorities and sustainable development goals.

HH Sayyid Theyazin highlighted the importance of the FAO’s ongoing programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing global food security and addressing challenges in the sustainability of food supply chains, particularly amid rapid global changes.

Dr. Qu Dongyu, FAO Director-General, expressed appreciation for Oman’s active role in supporting international efforts in food security. He reaffirmed FAO’s commitment to expanding collaboration with the Sultanate, sharing expertise, and contributing to the achievement of sustainable development objectives.

The meeting underscores Oman’s dedication to advancing food security initiatives and strengthening international partnerships in line with global sustainability goals.
