Dubai Police Crack Down on Dangerous E-Scooter Stunts at Kite Beach
Dubai, UAE — Dubai Police have apprehended 90 individuals and confiscated their e-scooters for performing dangerous stunts on sports tracks at Kite Beach, authorities confirmed on Saturday, December 27.
Officials warned that such reckless behavior not only endangers riders but also poses risks to the public, emphasizing a zero-tolerance approach for violations of traffic and safety rules.
Winter crowds at Kite Beach, including families and late-night visitors, make the stunts particularly hazardous. Police urged residents and tourists to adhere to safety regulations to prevent accidents in public recreational areas.
While e-scooters and e-bikes are popular, convenient, and eco-friendly, their misuse has led to a rise in accidents and fatalities. In the first five months of 2025 alone, 13 people in Dubai lost their lives due to e-scooter misuse and jaywalking. In 2024, the city recorded 254 accidents involving e-scooters and bicycles, resulting in 10 deaths and 259 injuries.
Some neighborhoods, including Victory Heights and Jumeirah Beach Residences, have banned e-scooter use entirely to safeguard residents. Authorities in Ajman have also reminded parents of the dangers of children riding bicycles or electric scooters in public areas.
Road safety expert Mustafa Aldah highlighted parents’ responsibility, noting that while outdoor activities are important, children must be assessed for their ability to navigate roads safely before being allowed to ride.
