Darah Visiting Researcher Program Opens Doors for Local and International Scholars
RIYADH — The King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah) has launched its Darah Visiting Researcher Program, offering local and international scholars the opportunity to access rare historical resources and conduct in-depth studies.
The first session of the program will begin in May, providing researchers with access to historical manuscripts, archival photographs, and oral recordings. Turki Al-Shuwaier, CEO of Darah, said the initiative aims to foster cooperation with academic institutions, research centers, and archival libraries both within the Kingdom and abroad.
“The program contributes to strengthening research networks and creating a stimulating environment for knowledge development,” Al-Shuwaier said, emphasizing the importance of methodological diversity and modern academic approaches in studying the history of Saudi Arabia, the Arabian Peninsula, and the broader Arab and Islamic worlds.
The program is open to faculty members, graduate students, and specialists in relevant fields. Research residencies last one to three months and can be extended based on scientific evaluation. Darah specialists provide academic guidance and supervision to ensure a successful research experience.
Al-Shuwaier highlighted the program’s broader goal: “Through the Darah Visiting Researcher Program, we seek to enrich historical knowledge and raise awareness of the importance of heritage in shaping the future.
